Flying Jumbo Squid Attack California

Really, this is not a joke or a story!

Well, ok, it's a story, but it's a factual news story. San Diego has been besieged by a legion of Humbolt squid. No serious injuries have made the news, but ABC reports that some of these Humbolt kids have smacked divers around and left their carcasses littering the beautiful Southern California beaches.

Get the full slimy story here.

Squid nation betrayed by National Geographic

squid sex
We used to think National Geographic could be trusted to bring us non-exploitative, unbiased stories about this wonderful world we cohabit with you rapacious humans.

Those days are now over. The once-kind people of NG have gone all National Inquirer on the squid nation, choosing to publish this expose of our modest and slightly deviant sex lives.

What? Of course we're a little kinky. I mean, who hasn't cut a two-inch gash in their partner to inject a spermatophore? C'mon, people, don't play innocent with us.

Squid-happy Hakodate invaded by aliens

According to new video from the Hakodate tourist bureau, the Japanese city has been invaded by space squid from the planet Ikaaru because the Hakodate residents eat too much squid.

Apparently the aliens have taken over Hakodate's mechanical mascot, a real mechanical squid built by a local university in 2007. Now it's terrorizing the city. See if you can make any sense of it. We're rooting for the Ikaaruans, of course.

Squidcast #10 - Primary Pollinator

My, how time do fly! Having recovered from the sheer in-your-faceness of our good buddy Allen Wise's "Gymorda Cycle," we're switching gears from tentacle sex to plant sex with an audio-ized tale of Nicole Kimberling's unforgettable contribution to SpaceSquid #2 (read by the author). Note: This broadcast piggybacks off our sister site, RevolutionSF.com, in case the introduction confuses you (as if my pathetic attempt at a British accent for no good reason weren't befuddling enough ... what was I thinking?)
